Postseason honors keep rolling in for SF Sharks

he postseason honors keep rolling in for the state finalist Shadow Creek Sharks with Brad Butler’s squad receiving four selections to the Houston Chronicle’s All-Greater Houston Football team.

Quarterback Jamarian George and lineman Cam`ron Johnson were both first team offensive selections, as was Manvel Mavericks’ lineman Layden Robinson.

George, who was also chosen as the most valuable player in 10-5A Division I, delivered a state record 99-yard run against Highland Park in the state finals on Dec. 22 in Arlington. The Sharks’ signal caller threw for 2,961 yards and 33 touchdowns during the 2018 season, while adding 457 yards and 11 TD’s on the ground.

Cornerback Xavion Alford also made the first team defensive cut for Shadow Creek on the AGH list and linebacker Jeremiah Harris was a second team pick.

Alford provided 53 tackles and six interceptions, while Harris added 67 tackles and 12 sacks for the SC defense.

Other Houston area players named to the first team offense included quarterback Grant Gunnell (St. Pius); running backs Zach Evans (North Shore) and Deondrick Glass (Katy); receivers Demond Demas (North Forest), Shadrach Banks (North Shore) and Parker Washington (Fort Bend Travis); tight end Jalen Wydermyer (Dickinson); linemen Kenyon Green (Atascocita), Chris Cassidy (Angleton) and McKade Mettauer (The Woodlands); utility player Devon Achane (Fort Bend Marshall); and kicker/punter Tristan Heaton (Atascocita).

The first team defense also included linemen Braedon Mowry (Katy Taylor), Jordan Revels (North Shore), T`Vondre Sweat (Huntsville) and Chidozie Nwankwo (Foster); linebackers David Gbenda (Cinco Ranch), Josh White (Cypress Creek) and Garrett Redden (Sealy); and cornerbacks Alex Hogan (Lamar) and Marcus Banks (Spring Dekaney).

North Shore QB Dematrius Davis earned the offensive MVP nod, while Dickinson’s Landon Roque was tabbed as the area’s top defensive player.
